THE STAKEHOLDER:
WHO ARE THE ROLE MODELS OF OUR YOUTH TODAY?
There’s a saying in our culture: “When the mother goat chews the cord, the little ones watch and learn.”
The recent incident at UNIZIK, Anambra State, where a young girl was expelled, clearly reflects this reality.
Undoubtedly, her actions were shocking— unethical, disgraceful, and against our African values—but let’s be honest: we are yet to see the worst “if we don’t act now!”
WE MUST WAKE UP!
Our children’s behaviors are a reflection of what they see around them. A snake does not give birth to something that is not straight! But sadly, many of the so-called “role models” today are leading our youth astray.
- Parents are too busy to raise their children.
- Leaders who should guide them are failing.
- Social media and peer pressure are filling the gap.
IT’S TIME TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!
- Parents: Train your children—don’t leave it all to their teachers!
- Politicians: Control your urges; be responsible around young people.
- Teachers: Guide them as you would your own children.
- Religious Leaders: Speak the truth; don’t sugarcoat morality.
- Everyone: If you can, help train other children in your community—because an untrained child today could become a bad influence tomorrow.
Before we leave the rest to God, let’s “do our part first!”
GOD BLESS OUR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES.
